Not Fussed To Dust
By Rosa Correia
‘There
is no need to do any housework at all. After the first four years the
dust does not get any worse.
It’s just simply a matter of not loosing ones nerve.’
In today’s busy world the words of the late Quentin Crisp seem
more and more apt. Just imagine if we all adopted this approach, all the
cleaners would be out of a job.
However, rather than in decline, the role of the “Domestic Engineer”
is on the increase. With both partners working fulltime the need for a
reliable housekeeper has never been greater.
But how should you choose? You could ask the lady down the road who will
work for cash-in-hand or you could employ a professional cleaner.
The modern domestic will be well trained and educated in the laws
of Health and Safety. Understand risk assessment and the careful
handling of hazardous substances (COSHH). Your new help around the house
or even work should be well insured. About
£2,000,000.00 is the norm these days.
Moreover, they will have had a Police check (CRB) and be able to show
several references.
Once you have ascertained all of the above, make sure they can
actually do the job. Ask for a full spring-clean so that you start your
contract with a clean slate. Make sure no stone is left unturned and no
corners cut.
If you are happy with the one off clean then why not discuss a regular
cleaning regime. Take a trial period of say four weeks, then, if you are
completely satisfied plan a more permanent arrangement. Really good
cleaners are not expensive they are priceless.
If all else fails, you can always take Mr. Crisps advise!!!!!
